There are several ways to find money to fund your participation to the race. Even if the sponsor is the fastest way, it is often very long and very hard to find a firm willing to give you money so this part is here to remind you that sponsor is not the only way! Here are several ideas to collect money that are often being forgotten:
Lets say that you need to find 4500 euros in 5 months and that your crews is made of 8 persons: that means that you have to find 115 euros each month and per person ( 5*8*112= 4500).

-You could organize a party
in a bar, you simply need an agreement with the owner: he get all the money from the drinks that people buy and you get money from people who enter the bar and to attract people in the bar you can create a new concept/ a theme!
For Example: a Party in a cool Bar for Christmas where people have to dress up and pay 3euros to get in. It is something cool to organize and if you managed to convince 400 people to come, in one evening you can collect more than 1000euros!!
- You can also organize the party
in your university asking a participation of 5 to 10 euros depending on the number of people you are expecting. Also attracting them with a funny theme.You should invite all the students from your university telling them why you are organizing this party!
-You can also organize a very big party in a club! You will have to rent the room, invite all your university! You will have to sell a lot of advance-order before the party to make sure that many people are coming and that you can pay for the room before the beginning of the party and perhaps for the alcohol!People usually offer two prices: one in advance order and one if people are paying directly in the club!

If you manage to communicate a lot about this party with posters, e-mails to the students… you can easily earn 4000 euros if about 500 people come which is enough to pay the package almost entirely!
Example of theme: open candy, open cake that you can cook yourself, twin party where people have to come dressed alike etc…

-You can cook snacks for the students of your university: Indeed you can cook several cakes, pancakes, peanut butter on a slice of bread etc…. And you can sell them to your friends for 1, 2 or 3euros in the common room of your school, in the hall. You can even go to find them in the park, library, studying room etc…In one day you can earn about 200 euros!
- You can sell goodies:
- wth the name of your crew, the name of your sailing club :Goodies like T-shirts, pens, bracelet that you manage to do at a very low price. You should also explain people why you are collecting money! If you sell those goodies in the street explaining why you are doing that sometime people may give you up to 5 euros for a pen you bought about 30cents.In one week you can earn 500 euros!
